I am sure many of you have been hearing about the new Bonneville Brewery that has recently opened its doors in Tooele, Utah. Russ and I were lucky enough to be able to take a lovely Sunday drive out west and check this place out. I will tell you up front, it was worth the drive.
You might be aware of the building that the Bonneville Brewery now calls home – it used to be the Track’s Brewery. However, you won’t see any remnants of its old ways. Bonneville Brewery was completely gutted and remodeled and now looks fantastic. What I really like about it is that it caters to both families as well as those looking to get out on the town and enjoy a night out among adults with tasty libations. The entire upstairs of Bonneville is 21 and over, while the main level serves as a restaurant where all are welcome. They also have a huge wrap around patio – which should be seeing some new patio furniture soon; a great place to spend a summer evening.
But let’s talk about the most important part: the food and beer! We were lucky enough to try out Bonneville Brewery’s Sunday brunch – which was delightful. Brandon, the manager, made some great menu suggestions and we started with a few brews: Free Roller Pale Ale and the Black Rock Belgian White Ale. Both were great. The Pale Ale had just enough bite, but the Belgian White was probably one of my favorites out of all of their brews. We also were able to taste everything else on the beer menu and the Sir Malcom Stout and the Goldenrod Ale also made our list of favorites. Bonneville will be bottling their beers in the near future – so be on the lookout for their tasty beverages outside of the brewery itself.
The food was delicious. We tried three items off the brunch menu – the California Benni ($10.99), the Creme Brulé French Toast ($6.99), and the open-faced Pan-Roasted Salmon Sandwich ($7.49). The hollandiaise sauce was delicious – not too rich but super creamy. The shrimp were well seasoned and it was a great combo. The French Toast was also fabulous – the berry compote was handmade and not too sweet while the french toast itself was the perfect combo of crispy and warm/chewy in the center. The Pan-Roasted Salmon Sandwich may have been our favorite, however. Fresh, delicious salmon – cooked to perfection and seasoned lightly on open-faced dark rye with caraway cabbage, tomato, and dill cream cheese. This sandwich was the perfect size, delicious, light, interesting, and fresh!
Russ and I mentioned more than a few times that Bonneville Brewery would be a great spot for a nice Sunday drive, ending in a delicious and very affordable brunch. The folks in Tooele are super lucky to have such a great spot in their neighborhood, and Salt Lake locals should definitely make the trek. We had a lovely time! We are excited to go back to check out more of their menu.
